Nan Siemer has been a communicator her entire life. She worked
for 15 years as a broadcast journalist, primarily in radio
news, before striking out on her own in 1995 as a communication
and media consultant. Her diverse communications background
includes work in television news, magazine, news wire and
newspaper writing, as well as teaching various communications
courses at the college level and training government and private
sector workers.
Nan has also answered the call to help as a disaster assistance
employee with the Federal

Agency (FEMA). As a public affairs officer with FEMA's Office
of Emergency Information and Media Affairs, Nan traveled across
the country to use her communications skills to help inform
disaster victims about federal and state disaster assistance
programs available to them. She was instrumental in taking FEMAs
radio network to the Internet and, while training her colleagues,
was the first person to offer several news reports per day from
a disaster site on the World Wide Web. |
 |
During her years in the news business, Nan was the recipient
of a host of awards, including
the coveted Edward R. Murrow award, which was given to WTOP
for its coverage of the Mount Pleasant riots. Nan was one
of two reporters at the scene for the all news radio station.
Nan's public speaking career began as a tour guide at the
Arch in St. Louis; a job which helped fund her education at
Lindenwood College in St. Charles, Missouri.

She now conducts training programs, gives speeches, and meets
individually with clients on a wide variety of oral and written
communications topics.
In addition, Nan wrote the business profiles and photo captions
in a book about Washington, DC (published in 1997 by Towery
Publishing in Memphis).
